Baramidze, Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, State Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration.
B. Tarasiuk reported on the current state of affairs in Ukraine in respect of its European integration, and the role of the European Integration Committee in this process.
Giorgi Baramidze stated that Georgia was on the stage of talks with the European Union concerning the Association Agreement, and expected to launch the negotiations on the free trade zone with the EU. He stressed that the Agreement on Simplification of Visa Regime between Georgia and EU comes into force on March 1, 2011.
The Parties discussed participation of Ukraine and Georgia in the EU initiative "Eastern Partnership", focused on its parliamentary dimension EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly, and concluded that the Assembly should be launched as soon as possible.
B. Tarasiuk also met Neven Mimica, Deputy Speaker of the Sabor of the Republic of Croatia, and I.Štefanec, Chairman of the Committee on European Affairs of the National Council of the Slovak Republic.
